THE AUSSIE BULLDOG FROM THE BEGINNING
1988 - 2007

The last introduction of Bullmastiff was in January 2005 when Bungalow Bronson was used over a big silver brindle bullmastiff female known as "Lillian" without papers and owned by Stockton Park Kennels .Lillian had 16 puppies natural whelp and reared 9 , 5 males and 4 females all females now placed in breeding programs with the intention of  being mated back to British bulldog again to start a fresh hybrid line for the purpose of producing well built females around 75% British blood, and hopefully continuing on another generation to produce 7/8 British  males, for the purpose of stud dogs with the logic being that they only contain 2 breeds .By the third and fourth generation these dogs will be suitable for use back to select lines of well established aussie bulldogs. This new line organized by the greens is now into its second generation of breeding by Brindlee , Cox Kennels and Macs Kennels in Victoria (early 2007).

The three British Bulldogs that were used by both lines ( Jag & Nobes ) initially were  Hercules Wrath , a red male purchased from Gladstone by the Greens and later sold to Nobes in approximately 1997. The other dog ( teddy bear long time coming ) was a white dog ,offered to the Greens during  a conversation with the owner breeder of Teddy at a Bundaberg  Dog show in QLD and  the contact details for this dog were forwarded to Pip Nobes at the time by the Greens and purchased by Nobes for future breeding as a stud dog to most foundation females including Miss Margarita (Maggie) The third male used was Allipundi lord Charles who was owned by a young fella in  Pittsworth QLD , this dogs pet name was Max. He was used twice by the Greens and used overwhelmingly by Nobes. There are a number of British males used before and after these three males by Nobes and Greens, but they were not commonly used by each other .Up to date, more than 20 male British bulldogs in all states of Australia have been utilized for the purpose of creating and maintaining a typical bulldog appearance , remembering that the Aussie Bulldog will still  probably need more work to stabilize larger breeding programs and numbers probably until 2010 at the earliest, so that it can completely hold its own breed type .This is mainly due to  the unexpected expansion of numbers giving us a lot greater challenge at hand . Saying that you are breeding Aussie Bulldog back to Aussie Bulldog at this stage means very little if you do not have thoroughly compatible bloodlines for best end result .It is easy to mate two dogs together ( anyone can do that ) but the main thing  is knowing how to ensure that the litter will be correct. If we do not take some control of the matings being done , then the aussie bulldogs will more than likely in 50 years time be as inconsistent looking as a number of registered breeds .This can not be argued by the canine , because we have personally seen 230 bullmastiffs at 1 gathering and honestly you would have trouble finding 10 that look similar.

Greens & Nobes looking at the betterment of the breed, from each a slightly different perspective, formed the UABA ( United Aussie Bulldog Association) suggested by Noel & Tina in Nov 2003 to bring all lines of Aussies together into the one association, with the hope of  concentrating and increasing consistency and breed type by getting breeders to work  together  to promote the breed.  In 2005 Pip Nobes  left the UABA , and formed the ABS ( Australian Bulldog Society). At that point Pip had approximately 10 years experience with this type of dog  , and Noel & Tina had been heavily involved for more than 14 years .In the earlier stages of our contacts with Pip Nobes, she had no  interest with introducing bullmastiff to her lines, saying that they were too large, until she made comparisons with her puppies to our heavy boned square headed Aussie Bulldogs and then found the need to bring it in to her lines. Continually we found ourselves disagreeing with Pip, and it was clear that a close working relationship was not possible, so now we find it easier to do our own thing, resulting in the two separate Breed Associations .
In the last 13 years we have not really had a great lot to do with the Nobes dogs and our Aussie bulldogs were started completely  independently before Pip Nobes and we have found continual success with the well thought direction in which we are heading  .
